MCCM A Mixing Cell Cascade Source Term Computer Code for LILW Facility

Abstract. A simple analysis of the source term from LILW facility is presented. The mixing cell cascade model has been applied. Sorption is accounted for by specifying a retardation factor. Dispersion is modelled using a cascade of geometrical similar mixing cells into which radionuclides are released. Infinite dispersion can be modelled using a single mixing cell and using a large number of mixing cells can approximate zero dispersion. Surface wash and constant rate leach models are included into the mixing cell cascade model and can be used to analyse unstabilized and stabilized waste. Engineered barriers are assumed to fail completely at some fixed time. We have performed analyses to determine the radionuclide releases from a hypothetical low-level waste repository.
