Relation between Cigarette Smoking and Human Serum Cadmium Concentration

Abstract. It is known that, cadmium is not a necessary but toxic element for living structures. As a one of the living structure in contaminated foods and respiration, achieve human intake of cadmium. In this study it is aimed that to find out the serum cadmium levels of heavy cigarette smokers and the type of tobacco. Since tobacco leaves contain relatively higher concentration of cadmium, during cigarette smoking, possibility of cadmium intake naturally increases. The cadmium content of tobacco leaves varies according to the region where tobacco grown up.
