An Application in Biology of Coupled Electrical Circuits

Abstract. The aim of this paper is to study a new electrical model of the human cardiac oscillator. The analyzed electrical model is composed as a system of three breaking circuits corresponding to the sino-atrial (SA) node, the atrio-ventricular (AV) node and the His bundle (HB). The breaking circuit is composed by three (Rn1, Rn2, and Rn3) non-linear resistors with dynatron characteristics. By reproducing the activity of the SA node, AV node and HB of the human heart with the above-mentioned electrical model, we described the possibility of synchronized and nonsinchronized interactions. This simple model is thus able to reproduce some patterns of physiological and pathological heart rhythms.
