Abstract. A wide range temperature controller capable of working within the 3-300 K range is described. From 3 K to 100 K the controller offers stability from ±30 μK/h to ±1 μK/h, correspondingly. It uses a DC resistance bridge with a carbon resistor as a temperature-sensing element. Proportional and integral (PI) type of control is implemented. Special precautions are taken against the transients inherent to the integral control. The adjustments of the PI-regulator for optimum performance are straightforward and convenient. The electronic circuit is built up from available components.
