Simulation of Signal Generation for Argon Based Gas Detectors

Abstract. A computer simulation of charge transport and signal generation mechanism in Argon based gas detectors has been performed. Electron-ion generation by incident charged particle and the transport and charge multiplication processes were simulated by a Monte-Carlo technique. A number of factors influence the signal arising from the charge carriers generated within gas volume. In the present simulation signal fluctuations due to bias voltage, temperature and the ratio of gas mixtures have been examined.
