The Distance to NGC 6946

Abstract. The present study is based on CCD observations of the galaxy NGC 6946 taken with the 6 m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory (Russia). The photometry was performed in the standard system BVR. The distance to NGC 6946 is not well established. The value of 5.5 Mpc, presented here, is derived from the mean size of 41 stellar associations which populate the spiral arms of the galaxy.
