Abstract. The excitation of the parity-unfavoured states of helium by electron impact has been measured around threshold energy regions. This was done by observing the VUV radiation at 32 nm emitted in the decay of the (2p2)3P state to the single excited (1s2p)3P state. In the threshold region clear evidence is found for the occurrence of negative-ion resonances.
