On the Kinetics of the α-β HgI2 Phase Transition Investigated by Differential Scanning Calorimetry

Abstract. The α-β phase transition kinetics of HgI2 was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry. The effective activation energy of the transition was determined from dynamic scans, with heating rates in the 1-11 ℃/min range, applying the methods of Kisssinger and Ozawa. It is concluded that the mechanism of the phase transition possibly does not remain the same during the transition.
