Abstract. Segmented polyurethanes based on polyethylene oxide/polycaprolactone diol, isophorone diisocyanate and adipoyl dihydroxamic acid or terephtaloyl acid were prepared and studied. Polymeric films were subjected to biodegradation test under pepsin action into phosphate buffer solution of pH 7.4 and 37°C. Compared with the same films studied in the absence of enzyme, a biodegradability induced by pepsin was evidenced. GPC, viscosity and stress-strain measurements sustained this behavior.
