Abstract. One-dimensional numerical model is created for a cylindrical negative glow discharge in helium. The model could be applied also for low-current devices as Volier type discharge, coaxial electron guns, etc. By solving of the Boltzmann electron equation and the balance equations of electron's density and energy the high-energy part of the electron energy distribution function can be determined as well as the electron's density and temperature. The results of calculations are compared with the experimental data derived in a hollow cathode and Volier type discharges.
