Chromatic Effects in the Super-Conducting Accelerator Nuclotron

Abstract. A systematic study of the chromatic effects in the superconducting heavy ion synchrotron NUCLOTRON in the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna has been performed. The natural chromaticity has been evaluated taking into account the effect of the dipole magnets. The impact of the systematic and random imperfections in the magnetic field of dipoles on the chromaticity and the dependence of the betatron tunes on the amplitude of oscillations have been investigated. The strengths of the sextupole correctors necessary to cancel the chromaticity have been calculated. The chromatic perturbations have been studied by means of the Montague chromatic functions.
