Abstract. The correctness with which the peak areas are determined is very important in order to obtain accurate and reliable results in EDXRFA analyses. Different methods for spectra processing (total peak area, linear and nonlinear least square algorithms, resolution enhancement procedures) were tested and compared and the limits of their applicability in EDXRFA analyses were determined.
