All-Optical Self-Oscillations in an Interference Filter

Abstract. Interference filters, consisting of a thin plate of lithium niobate as a central layer with different absorptive and nonabsorptive multi-layers deposited on both sides of the plate, are investigated. A bistable switching and self-oscillations are observed in the case of absorbing coatings. The performed numerical modeling gives an explanation of the obtained experimental results.
