Abstract. The basics of gerbes and twisted K-theory on a compact manifold X are discussed. Twisted Chern character in twisted K-theory is reviewed. Twisted families of local vector bundles are introduced and their use for twisted K-theory are illustrated by the examples X = SU(n) for n = 2,3.
