Abstract. The International Nuclear Information System (INIS) is an international co-operative information system, operated by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in collaboration with 116 Member States and 22 International Organizations, with over 35 years of experience.
INIS processes most of the world's scientific and technical literature on the peaceful application of nuclear science and technology. The bibliographic database currently contains over 2.7 million records and a comprehensive collection of over 700,000 of full texts of INIS scope publications not easily available through the commercial channels.
Bulgaria is a member of INIS since its establishment in 1971. In Bulgaria INIS operates through the National INIS Centre and is represented by INIS Liaison Officer.
In this paper an overview of INIS System operation and the information, which can be obtained from INIS database, and how that can be done in Bulgaria is presented. The main activities and services at Bulgarian INIS Centre as well as the input of information, published in Bulgaria, to the INIS database are discussed.
