Magneto-Optical Trap for 87Rb Atoms

Abstract. The mechanism for laser cooling and trapping of rubidium atoms by Magneto-Optical trap (MOT) is discussed. The apparatus and conditions for the experiment of Rb MOT are described. The attention is focus on the different types of laser systems suitable for the effective laser cooling. The optimization procedure for the Master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) is explained.
